Monday was a holiday here so I took full advantage of my day off and joined running friends on one of my favourite trails! This trail is on private property and had been rumoured to be closed off to the public but we had no issues accessing it and we were rewarded with a gorgeous run! Then in the afternoon I hit up the flow yoga class and it was TOUGH. Lots of core work.

Tuesday – 55 minute run (AM) + 1 hour, 15 minute run (PM) (4 miles / 6.4 km + 5 miles / 8 km)

Double run day on Tuesday!

Wednesday – 55 minute run (4 miles / 6.4 km)

After two runs on Tuesday my legs were tired on Wednesday morning, which was to be expected. I took it slow and walked a lot on this loop.

Thursday – 2 hours, 33 minute run (11 miles / 17.70 km)

After work on Thursday I met up with five friends and three other dogs for my long run of the week. This was not only my fourth day in a row of running, but also my fifth run in four days. My legs were tired and this run was tough. After a week of torrential rain we were lucky to have AMAZING weather for this run. The sun was shining and a breeze was blowing and it was just right for such a long run. Not going to lie, this was a tough run, but I’m glad I did it and I’m SO GLAD I had friends to meet me and do this long of a post-work run with me!

Friday – REST

Was in the car for about 7 hours on Friday as we had to whip down to the States to pick something up for my girlfriends wedding and then back up to Surrey for the Mumford and Sons concert!!! I did spend about 4 hours standing in one place for Mumford and Sons though – does that count as “time on my feet”?? Ha.

Saturday – REST

Another day of travel as we drove back from Vancouver! I did pack running stuff in case I woke up on Saturday morning and felt like running but I definitely did NOT feel like running when I woke up super tired after our long night at the concert and also to pouring rain.

Sunday – REST

Another full day of travel as I flew across the country for my work conference in Toronto/Hamilton this week! Whew, three days of traveling in a row (covering about 4,700 km Friday – Sunday!). You’d think all that sitting would leave me well rested but I’m TIRED. My mileage will definitely be on the lower side this week since I’m away for work but my goal is to get in at least 5 hours of running total over the week!

Totals:

Miles / Km – 31.3 miles / 50.3 km

Miles / km to date – 244.7 miles / 393.85 km

Time on my feet – 7 hours

Elevation Gain – 5,146 feet

Yoga – 1 practice for a total of 60 minutes

Strength Training – zero, zilch, nada

Chloe’s miles / km – 24 miles / 38.5 km

**

Not the best week when it comes to cross-training and also three rest days in a row really isn’t ideal but it is what it is. It’s been a CRAZY week/weekend for me and that’s why I heavy loaded the start of the week. My legs were TIRED after running 50 km in four days. Hard to believe I have to do that in ONE day in just 11 weeks. Yikes!

How was your week of training? How do you balance your training schedule when you have a busy week or a heavy week of traveling?
